Harvest Hosts Camping

You might of heard about Harvest Hosts and thought, what the heck is that anyway. “Harvest Hosts is a network of farms, wineries , breweries & distilleries, attractions and more that invite RVers to stay overnight, giving Members safe, convenient, and unique places to stay during their travels.”

We love our Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome membership. This membership is $100 a year and totally worth it for us! It allows for overnight stays at wineries, farms, breweries, or peoples homes that have enough room for you to park. They are generally a little off the beaten path, but always worth the 15/30 min detour. It makes for a much more pleasant overnight stop versus a Walmart parking lot.

They do ask that you patronize the facility when you stay. Buy the wine, beer, eat at the restaurant or shop at the farm store, etc.

We stay at more Harvest Hosts than Boondockers welcome, as BW’s tend to be private homes and are for smaller rigs.

We utilize Harvest Hosts a ton while we are traveling across the country. Most only allow you stay one night so it is a great option for a quick stop along the way. Below are some of our favorite spots we’ve stayed at so far.

Our top 3 favorite Harvest Hosts Locations:

Manchester Brooke Farm - Vermont

Ron is a very gracious host and the location is gorgeous right next to the river. The facility is an old papermill that Ron has bug dreams for. He was kind enough to give us a full tour of his home, the papermill and to show us and tell us all about his plans for the future. They include a restaurant, distillery and event venue. The bones of this place are amazing!

Karrikin Spirits - Cincinnati, Ohio

Karrikin was a convenient stop off in Cincinnati that was just a few miles outside of the city center. It has ample parking for a few large rigs in the back of the property. It felt safe and was quiet considering it was in the back of a restaurant with a highway behind us too. The best part about this place were the food and drinks. Hands down the best smoked chicken wings I’ve ever had in my life! They are award winning. The burger was excellent too. Everything we had was over the top good. Including our drinks. Try the root beer and orange soda too. OMG those are good!

The facility inside is gorgeous. It is a working distillery and has tons of tables and bar space. We were there on a Saturday night and were shocked that it wasn’t busier. I think people are sleeping on this place because I give it a 10 out of 10 on the food.

Mystic Farm & Distillery - Durham, North Carolina

Mystic was a distillery with a beautiful event venue and lots of parking for big rigs. We were parked next to their lake. We were there on a night that they also happened to have a comedy show and it was an awesome bonus. The comedians were funny and it was nice to have entertainment for the evening. The next morning they had a craft fair setting up, but we were far enough away that there was no noise that came from it to disturb us.
